One last Goldy related bobblehead. This is probably one of the hardest to find and expect to pay big bucks for it when you do find it. It's the Goldy Gymnastics version. These were given out at meets in 2003 celebrating 100 years of U of MN Gymnastics. Quite the bobble.

Goldy Bobbleheads - 2 more Gold Country Versions
Here are the other 2 bobbleheads from Gold Country. I took this pictures from the web as mine are in storage right now. Pretty obvious that these are football and basketball. They are both pretty rare. I'm still hoping to find out more about the story behind these bobbles!

Goldy Bobbleheads - Gold Country Hockey Versions
These are 2 of my favorite Goldy bobbleheads. You'll recognize one of them as being on the top of my want list for a long time. The Goldy on the left is recognizing the 2002 National Champion hockey team while the one on the right is just like the previous Goldy, a Gold Country hockey version. Both of these were produced and sold by Gold Country. You'll see the National Champion version a bit more often, but the Gold Country hockey is extremely rare.

Goldy Bobbleheads - Gold Country Version 1
Next in the blog series of Goldy bobbleheads comes a Gold Country edition. For those of you who don't know, Gold Country was an apparel store in Dinkytown. Back in the early 2000s, Gold Country produced several different Goldy bobbleheads. This is one of them. From what I know these were all retail bobbleheads, but with a very limited run. This specific Goldy is rarely seen.

Goldy Bobbleheads - Marching Band
Now we come to a few of the more uncommon Goldy bobbleheads. The first is the marching band Goldy. I've heard a couple different stories about this one, but I believe these were sold to raise money for the University of Minnesota Marching Band. I've also heard they were sold at a specific fundraising event, but I'm not sure if that truly happened. Either way, this is a cool Goldy bobble!

Goldy Bobbleheads - 2 Swimming Variations
Here are 2 different variations of Goldy as a Swimmer. I blogged about these bobbles recently after I found the second one, but at the time, I didn't know the story behind them, now I do! The "U of M" was the original Goldy Swimming bobble. When the U received the first small shipment of these they noticed the "M" was not the Minnesota M, but the Michigan M. I added a picture of each "M" below the bobbles. The U quickly revised the bobblehead and had the correct Goldy Swimmers sent. I've heard the original batch was around 250, so the "error" bobblehead is quite limited. The story behind these 2 bobbleheads is pretty interesting to me and I'm glad I was able to find both of them! Beyond that, I believe they were giveaways at swim meets at the Aquatic Center.

Goldy Bobbleheads - Alumni Variations
Next up in my Goldy bobblehead blog series are 2 variations of Alumni bobbleheads. From what I know, both of these were given out by the Alumni Association. I'm not sure the reason behind the 2 variations of this bobble as its quite subtle, but for those collectors who want all forms of a specific bobblehead, these are must haves. As you can see, the only difference is the M on Goldy's chest.

Goldy Bobbleheads - The Common 6
Here's a picture of the 6 most commonly seen Goldy bobbleheads. They were fairly easy to find a few years ago and still aren't uncommon, but more and more are damaged in one way or another. There are 2 different baseball Goldy's. The one in the white jersey was a giveaway at a baseball game with Hormel sponsoring it. The other one, just like it's 4 counterparts are all part of the Rainbow Foods promotion. You could find these on campus pretty easy when they were originally giveaways, and then later, you were able to buy them in Rainbow Foods stores. I have seen both the wrestling Goldy as well as the basketball Goldy plaque-less. I don't know the story behind those. The hockey Goldy is the most valuable of the bunch and the wrestling Goldy is the one I see most commonly damaged. With his arms in front of him like they are, his fingers are often broken.
Check back soon for another variation of Goldy in bobblehead form!

Goldy Bobbleheads
It's probably about time that I blog a bit on Goldy bobbleheads, ya know, since that is the whole reason I started my collection! I'm planning on rolling out a blog series focusing solely on Goldy bobbles. I've had a few people ask me about specific Goldys and wonder if I have a complete list of them. The simple answer to that is...no, only because I'm unsure if I have all Goldy bobbleheads or not. I believe I have all the modern ones that were produced by the University (classic Goldy) but I don't collect the retail ones, which there are several!
I'm hoping to start the series this week, as of now, I'm not sure how many posts it'll be, but quite a few. Perhaps someone important at the U will see it and get the idea of making another one! I'd get behind that idea all day, every day!

Bobblehead Day: Target Field!
It's Hughes the Force bobblehead night at Target Field. I'll be there with a group of friends. I blogged about this one a few weeks ago. Read about it here. The special event tickets needed for the bobblehead sold out a week or 10 days ago, its a pretty hot item already. Also nice that there aren't any lines (or at least long lines) to stand in tonight, can't be that!
