New Addition - Dean & Rog Bobbleheads

I picked these 2 bobbleheads up recently, its a set of Dean & Rog, giveaway bobbleheads from the Houston Aeros (former affiliate of the Minnesota Wild).  Back in 2012, the Aeros did a giveaway of these 2 popular morning show hosts from the Houston area, I believe these are fairly limited but I'm unsure of the giveaway number.  They do lock together to make a nice little "dual" bobblehead!

Houston Aeros Bobblehead Jackpot! - Part 3

I'm saving the best for last.  I knew of these bobbles and actually had a couple of them.  What I didn't know was there was a 7 piece set.  I thought it was 6.  The Aeros did a promotional giveaway celebrating their 15th year with an "All-Aeros" team.  Very similar to what the Wild did for their "Year X All Time Team" where a 6 bobblehead set is made up of 3 forwards, 2 defencemen and 1 goalie.  What's the 7th piece of this set then?  Obviously its a mini-rink, who-freaking-knew?  I had never seen the rink before, but this set is easily one of the coolest "mini-sets" in my collection.  The players included are all mini bobbleheads and fit snugly on the rink!

                    Goalie - Frederic Chabot
Defenceman - Erik Reitz
Defenceman - Curtis Murphy
Forward - Brian Wisemen
Forward - Mark Freer
Forward - Derek Boogaard

Houston Aeros Bobblehead Jackpot! - Part 2

Part 2 of my Aeros jackpot includes a Curtis Murphy Bobblehead.  Murphy has 2 different bobbles, this one and a mini version that you'll see soon!  He did play for the Wild...but it was a pretty short stint...exactly 1 game!

Houston Aeros Bobblehead Jackpot!

It's funny how collecting works sometimes.  For instance there have been 2 different times I remember specifically where I finally said, "uncle" and broke down and dropped a significant amount of cash to purchase a bobblehead for my collection, and within a matter of days I've found the same piece for significantly less money.  And duh, of course I bought the cheaper one too.

In the past few weeks I've found several different bobbleheads from the Houston Aeros, former minor league affiliate of the Minnesota Wild.  The next few blog posts show everything I've added to my collection that are Aeros related!

Up first, a couple goalie bobbleheads.  Johan Holmqvist and Derek Gustafson.  Neither bobble is all that valuable but since they are Aeros bobbles, I wanted them for my collection!  A couple solid New Adds for me!

Santa Claus Bobblehead

Here's another recent new addition to the collection.  This one is a bit older tho, its Santa Claus from the Houston Aeros (Former Minnesota Wild Affiliate).  I think this is from 2004 and was limited to 3000.  Definitely a more rare bobble and it is pretty hard to find, but a cool one in Wild colors!

Mini Aeros Bobbleheads

I found a couple mini Houston Aeros bobbleheads earlier this summer.  Curtis Murphy on the left and Derek Boogaard on the right.  I believe these were part of a set of giveaways.  I know there is a couple more the team did.  I'm guesssing these were giveaways in the earlier to middle part of the 2000s as Boogaard played for the team between 2003 and 2005.  If you know of others or have pictures of other Aeros bobbleheads, let me know!  They did a Cal Clutterbuck 50/50 bobblehead - I'll do a blog post on that at some point in the future and explain the 50/50 thing, but for now, here's a picture of the 2 mini bobbleheads.

This one doesn't have bobble-gloves

In January 2014 I posted about a Derek Boogaard bobblehead that had bobbling-gloves.  Here is another Boogeyman bobblehead, this one also from the Aeros, but other than that...I have zero idea about this one. This is the only picture I've seen of it.  If you have more information, please share!

Bobble-gloves?

I blogged about the infamous Larry Craig bobble-foot a couple weeks ago.  I don't have many bobbleheads where something other than the head actually bobbles.  Mr. Craig's foot was the only thing that bobbled for him.  But in what could be my most rare (for a couple different reasons that I'll explain below) bobblehead, it also has other bobbling pieces.  This is a Derek Boogaard bobblehead, and was a giveaway by the Houston Aeros (former minor league affiliate of the Minnesota Wild) I believe in 2004.

Boogeyman's head bobbles (duh, it is a bobblehead) but his fists/gloves also bobble!  Why you ask? That answer is quite simple - he was one of the best fighters in the NHL.  For more info on Boogaard, check out his Wikipedia page. Boogaard died of an accidental drug overdose in May 2011.  A couple reasons why this could be my most rare bobblehead. First, there were only 3000 produced and given away at a minor league hockey game, who knows if all 3000 were even given away and what has happened to all of them.  Secondly, the fact that the gloves bobble is unique and cool but also comes with a bit of worry - the more things that bobble the more things can bring.  The bobblehead I have is in mint condition and everything is in bobbling condition.  Lastly, he autographed the bobblehead. Those 3 things make it a very rare bobblehead, it might not be my most valuable bobblehead, but could be the most rare!  Enjoy!
