Hughes the Force

Well, well, well...the Twins announced today that they are doing a special ticket bobblehead giveaway in May!  I don't think many people thought this was coming as the Twins haven't been one of the teams to do many of these "Special Event" giveaways.  It's a pretty cool bobblehead tho.

Many teams do special events giveaways based on themes.  The Twins did one last year, on Sid Hartman Day, check it out here & here!  Phil Hughes has a Star Wars themed bobblehead now, complete with lightsaber.  The bobble is named "Hughes the Force."  This is also one of the few bobbleheads that has something "unique" about it.  Obviously thats the lightsaber, compared to most other Twins bobbleheads, they are more classic poses.  This looks to be pretty cool.  And I believe it might be by Success Promotions.  So, if you want one of these, you have to purchase a special ticket package for the game on May 4th.

Former Gopher Bobblehead

I had heard of this bobblehead giveaway a couple months ago.  In that time I had to think about whether or not I was going to try to get one.  Kyle Okposo played for the Gophers and I figured, if I could find it for a decent price, I'd pick it up.  I searched for it a few different times on eBay and I never saw it for less than $50.  At that price and since he's wearing his Islanders jersey, I wasn't too interested.  I got lucky tho and emailed a New York seller to see if he was going to have any.  We made a deal and I had my bobblehead.

I believe this was a special giveaway.  First, season ticket holders had the chance to get them and then they sold special tickets (I'm guessing similar to that of the Sid Hartman bobbleheads that were given away last year a Twins game) that fans were able to purchase.

Bobbleheads for Sale

A buddy of mine had an intriguing idea for my blog.  We, as bobblehead collectors, know there are several people looking to sell their bobbleheads.  Maybe they aren't collectors and only have a few, maybe they have duplicates they'd like to move or perhaps they are reducing their collection in general.  This page is specifically for to buy/sell bobbleheads from other blog readers.

Sid Hartman Day - May 18th 2014

This past Sunday was Sid Hartman Day at Target Field.  The Twins celebrated the legacy of Sid Hartman and all his "close personal friends."  Back in March I posted about a special Hartman bobblehead the Twins were giving away.  I bought a couple tickets for the game so Jess and I could go. Only 1000 of these bobbleheads were given away and you had to have special tickets in order to receive the bobblehead. The Twins did an excellent job of getting out that information.  I received 2 emails and a phone call suggesting how I go about getting the bobblehead at the game.  This is the third Hartman bobblehead.  The other 2 were giveaways long ago.  All 3 are sponsored by the Star Tribune. Sid Hartman Bobblehead Day!

The Twins are honoring a sports legend (in his own mind and plenty of others as well) in May.  May 18th is Sid Hartman Day at Target Field.  If you want to learn more about Mr. Hartman, click here.  I learned about this bobblehead a couple of weeks ago, but I was in the middle of the my series on the Twins SGA bobbleheads so I've kept this blog post til now.  The Twins announced the giveaway thru a press release that you can read here.  The Twins have said the giveaway is limited to the first 1000 ticket purchases - which means you have to purchase a special ticket in order to get the bobblehead.  Click on this link to get to the special ticket page.  This will be the 3rd Hartman bobblehead that I know of and should be a pretty popular one among Minnesota sports fans.  I'm excited to add this one to my collection!

2013 Best Garage Sale Finds #3

My number garage sale find in 2013 happens to be a group of bobbleheads.  3 bobbleheads for $5 total. I hadn't been focusing on the Minnesota "celebrity" bobbleheads, but for $5, you can't really go wrong. Especially when each of these routinely sells for between $15 and $25 on eBay!  Because of this find, I've added to my local celebrity bobblehead collection.  I only have a handful, but honestly, I have absolutely no idea how many of these kind of bobbleheads are out there.  I know Jesse Ventura has about 4 or 5 different variations of his bobblehead when he ran for Governor.  And some local TV/Radio personalities also have bobbleheads. Getting 2 different Sid Hartman bobbleheads and a Wally the Beerman...all for a whopping $5, certainly a great deal!
